A Message From Pastor Paul

Ok Church, summer is over it’s time to put the pedal to the metal!

Everything MUST start with Prayer. Before we can move forward we need to look upward.

I am excited to announce that when we finish our Summer Sermon Series, WWJD?, based on the Sermon on the Mount, we will close out our Kingdom of God theme for 2018 with a brand new Sermon Series, Kingdom Prayer.

As NGCC strives to be a House of Prayer, this Sermon Series will draw us into the Throne of Grace. We will ultimately move from a Praying Church to a House of Prayer as Jesus desires.

Prayer will ignite a Fire in us that will burn within our souls to to be obedient to Jesus’ mission for His church – The Great Great Commission. It all starts with Prayer. Let’s all get excited as we take a trip to Heaven to meet Jesus, as we witness Heaven’s power come down to earth to change us from the inside out. All for the Glory of God.

Buckle up Church – the ride will be amazing!

NGCC Ministry News and Events

Children’s Ministry

On Sunday, August 26th we held a training course for new teachers and assistants as well as a refresher course for current teachers. Our focus was on safety of the children, new curriculum, and role playing. Thank you to all that attended. Please remember, if you are a part of the Children’s Ministry team, you are expected and needed to attend all meetings as we do discuss important issues.

We are planning to meet every 4th Sunday, briefly, directly after church. At this time each teacher and assistant will receive a calendar of events as well as the upcoming month lesson that will be taught. We want everyone to have their lesson in advance to study and pray. If you could not make the meeting and are interested in becoming a part of the Children’s Ministry, see Lena Lowry.

In our weekly Kingdom Kids Wednesday night program we have our annual Nerf Battle! All children in elementary school are welcome to attend. Again, we are always in need of volunteers! See Lena to get plugged in.

This year our Harvest Festival will be held on Sunday, September 30th. This will be a fun filled day in which we get to serve our community! We are planning a lot of cool events and lesson for the kids! We need any available Children’s Ministry team members to help with crafts and games. Please see Kim.

Just a reminder, the safety of our children and children’s volunteers, only those who have passed a background check at NGCC are permitted in the children areas. Thank you for your cooperation.

Women’s Ministry

The Women’s Ministry had a great time at their swimming party! Thank you, MaryAnn Simpson for opening your home to us. We had great food, fellowship, and a word from the Bible.

The women of NGCC will continue to grow to not only grow together but will be able to love each other as sisters in Christ by doing an activity monthly. Mareen encourages each to continue to look at our board at church for dates and times each month. Some of the things we are looking to do in the near future include….A Paint Night, A “Hot Seat” Event, and possibly a Movie Night.

We will soon start collecting items and filled shoeboxes of children items to support Operation Christmas Child. We also want to collect items for the homeless.

Men’s Ministry

The Men’s Ministry continues to support the mission that the Lord has called us to here at NGCC. The church is focused on taking on the Kingdom Agenda, as Matthew 6:33 instructs us as believers in Jesus to do. So, we must pursue being the Kingdom Men that our Father in Heaven has called us to be. He is equipping us even now to take on this worthy mission. Be an active part of this ministry as we strive together for individual spiritual growth, join in ministry and outreach to those who need the love of Jesus, and have great fellowship along the way.

Let’s step up,men! Let’s be about our Father’s business! Matthew 6:33 – But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Music and Tech Ministry

The Music and Tech Ministry is in need of volunteers to run sound, work the computers, stage lighting, and cameras.

We are in need of volunteers to help with setup also for the Coffee House. The Music and Tech Ministry is a great way to help with the “behind the scenes” type of things.

The Fall Festival is fast approaching. We will need volunteers to help create the stage the day before the festival and tear down at the end. We also move a lot of sound and musical equipment for this day. We really need all the help we can get to make this day run smoothly.

Homeless Ministry

The Homeless Ministry meets every 1st Saturday of the month at the church at 9am. We go into the Glen Burnie and Baltimore areas to give out food and clothes to the homeless along with the Word of God! Please join us!

Anyone that would like to help make sandwiches, we make them Friday night before at my house, so please contact me.

Teller Team

The Teller team is in need of one person who is willing to help count on the fifth Sunday of a month and be a backup in the absence of others The requirements to be on this team are the following: member, faithfully supports the church financially, and trustworthy.

You will be requested to stay after church to collect the money and help count for approximately 15 minutes.

Greeter’s Ministry

If you are looking to serve in a church ministry, we have a place for you!If you like to welcome people into North Glen with a friendly face and have a spirit of hospitality and serving others, we have openings in the Assimilation ministry.

Currently, we have two teams which alternate every Sunday passing out bulletins or Welcome Packets to newcomers. We also have a team that makes the coffee (when the door opens) and mans the coffee and light breakfast area.

If you are interested, signup at the bottom of the current schedule along with your interest and you will be contacted to see where you can plug in.

Coffee House News

Upcoming Concerts for the Fall

Thanks for supporting and promoting SNL Coffee House. We are in our 24th year, holding once a month events. As far as child care, we do not have a standing commitment of caregivers. If you are interested, you must be an active member of North Glen Community Church for six months and pass a background check. Please see Julie Drenning if you are interested in being part of this ministry. Commitment would be from 8-10pm. There are specific guidelines to keep our children safe during this time. Parents or guardians must check in and pick up their children. If there is no child care, an announcement will be posted to the church and Coffee House Facebook pages.

After three years, Scott Day Band is returning to the coffee house on September 15th. Please come join us in welcoming their return. The Scott Day Band is a Contemporary Christian Band from Frederick, MD. They formed 15 years ago. Scott Day Band can be found on Facebook and you can listen to their music at http://www.scottdayband.com/.

On October 20th, Holy Smoke will be performing for the second time this year. Holy Smoke has been together for 21 years. Visit them at http://www.holysmokeband.com for upcoming events as well as merchandise.

Then on November 17th, we have not forgotten to bring in the Full Gospel Boogie Band. Since 1991, the Band has been bringing the message of the “Good News” in a variety of venues. Originally just good friends putting together some songs to fill in for a band that canceled doing an outdoor concert, God brought together and continued to mold THE FULL GOSPEL BOOGIE BAND into a unique ministry that is well received by people of all ages. The Band is well known for the sound of their classic rock parodies that have had their lyrics sanctified and is a mixture of The Blues Brothers, ZZ Top,The Stones, Cream, Hank Williams, Jr, Lynyrd Skynyrd, well, you get the idea.
